Thanksgiving 2006
Elk
Elk

Thanksgiving with family in Grants Pass was another fun time! The road trip up north was a mini-vacation with stopovers in San Francisco, Fort Bragg and Eureka. Great sightseeing along the way... like Elk!

...with some taking away much more than memories

When the holiday was over we headed home over the Siskiyou pass and nostalgically reminisced about our trip, the great time we had over Thanksgiving, and once again how lucky we are to be able to visit with family in Oregon...

Jingle Bells

Believe it or not Jingle Bells, one of the most famous American Christmas songs, was originally written for Thanksgiving! The author and composer of Jingle Bells was a minister called James Pierpoint who composed the song in 1857 for children celebrating his Boston Sunday School Thanksgiving. It was so well received that the children were asked to repeat it at Christmas. It has been a Christmas song ever since.

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

A day or two ago,
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh
He laughed as there
I sprawling lie,
But quickly drove away.

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

Now the ground is white
Go it while you're young,
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song;
Just get a bob-tailed bay
Two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! you'll take the lead.

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way!
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
